Overview

The Trail-Gear Super Metal Knuckle Stud Kit replaces the steering-knuckle studs and related hardware used on Toyota-style solid front axle knuckles and Trail-Gear Six Shooter knuckles. It fits factory solid-axle applications as well as later 4Runner and Pickup solid-axle conversions that use the same 1979–1985 Toyota-style front knuckle.

The Super Metal studs are 1/4 inch longer than stock Toyota knuckle studs to provide additional thread engagement with aftermarket steering arms. They use Trail-Gear's proprietary metal construction, exceed Class 12.9 strength standards, feature a zinc-plated finish, and include an integrated 8 mm hex for easier installation and removal.

Fitment Notes

• Fits 1979–1985 Toyota-style front solid axle knuckles.
• Later 4Runner and Pickup model years require a solid axle conversion using the applicable Toyota-style knuckle.
• Does not fit factory IFS front knuckles.
• Six Shooter / 6-stud knuckles are supported but are not required.
• Apply threadlocker to the lower stud threads during installation.
• Tighten the knuckle studs to 40 ft-lb.
• Tighten the stud nuts to 75–80 ft-lb.
