Overview

The Trail-Gear 6-Stud High Steer Kit converts Toyota solid-front-axle steering to a heavy-duty crossover high-steer layout for lifted off-road applications using matching 6-stud steering knuckles. The six-stud steering-arm pattern adds two mounting points per knuckle compared with the factory-style four-stud arrangement.

The kit uses forged 8620 tool-steel steering arms, heavy-duty 0.250-inch-wall steering links, FJ80-style tie-rod ends, and a heavy-duty pitman arm. Configurations are available for Toyota OEM-width and Rock Assault front axle housings, left- or right-hand-drive vehicles, and drop or flat pitman-arm setups.

6-Stud Knuckle Requirement

This kit requires matching 6-stud / Six Shooter-style steering knuckles. The six-stud steering arms do not interchange with factory-style four-stud knuckles.

Six-stud knuckles are not included with this high-steer kit.

Rock Assault IFS Width (+3")

• For the Rock Assault IFS-width solid front axle configuration.

Rock Assault Tacoma Width (+5")

• For the Rock Assault Tacoma-width solid front axle configuration.
• "Tacoma Width" describes the axle housing width and does not indicate Toyota Tacoma vehicle fitment.

Select Left-Hand Drive or Right-Hand Drive according to steering-wheel position when seated inside the vehicle.

The flat pitman-arm configuration requires custom mounting hardware and additional steering-box/frame clearance work. Steering-box relocation or frame modification and reinforcement may be required depending on the installation.

6-Stud vs. 4-Stud High Steer

This 6-stud kit is for steering knuckles using the six-point steering-arm mounting pattern. Vehicles retaining factory-style four-stud knuckles require the 4-stud high-steer kit instead.
