AW11 MR2 Parts & Restoration
The 1984–1989 Toyota MR2 AW11, commonly known as the MK1 MR2, established Toyota’s first generation of lightweight mid-engine sports cars. Whether you are restoring an original car, maintaining a street-driven MR2, or building a performance project, Preserve Rad offers a growing selection of AW11 MR2 parts for restoration, maintenance, and upgrades.
Parts for 1984–1989 Toyota MR2 AW11
The AW11 is most closely associated with Toyota’s 1.6L 4A engine family. Naturally aspirated cars use the 4A-GE, while the 4A-GZE supercharged engine was offered in certain markets and model years. Manual and automatic configurations were also produced, meaning clutch, drivetrain, cooling, engine, and related components should always be matched to the specific application.
Another important distinction is the enthusiast-defined MK1a and MK1b split. Toyota made numerous updates during the generation, with the later MK1b cars receiving changes to areas such as the suspension, brakes, drivetrain, exterior, and other components. The changeover occurred around the 1987 period, and some parts are not interchangeable between early and late cars, making production-year fitment especially important when ordering AW11 components.
