Trail-Gear 4-Stud High Steer Crossover Kit

For 1979–1995 Toyota Pickup & 1985–1995 Toyota 4Runner with Toyota-Style Solid Front Axle and 4-Stud Knuckles

Overview

The Trail-Gear 4-Stud High Steer Crossover Kit converts Toyota solid-front-axle steering to a heavy-duty crossover high-steer configuration designed for lifted off-road applications.

The system uses forged 8620 tool-steel steering arms, heavy-duty .250-inch-wall steering links, FJ80-style tie rod ends, and a heavy-duty pitman arm. Raising the steering linkage above the factory push-pull arrangement provides a steering layout better suited to increased suspension articulation and solid-axle off-road builds.

Multiple configurations are available for Toyota OEM and Rock Assault axle housings, left- or right-hand-drive vehicles, and drop or flat pitman arm setups.

Key Features

  • 4-stud steering arms for factory-style Toyota solid-axle knuckles
  • Forged 8620 tool-steel steering arms
  • Heavy-duty .250-inch-wall steering links
  • FJ80-style tie rod ends
  • Drop or flat pitman arm configurations
  • Left-hand-drive and right-hand-drive configurations
  • Toyota OEM and Rock Assault axle options
  • Minimum 3 inches of lift required
  • Designed for Toyota solid-front-axle applications
  • Intended for off-road use

Axle Housing & Pitman Arm Selection

Choose the axle configuration that matches the front axle installed in the vehicle:

  • Toyota OEM Axle – For Toyota OEM-style solid front axle width
  • Rock Assault IFS Width (+3") – Configured for the wider Rock Assault IFS-width housing
  • Rock Assault Tacoma Width (+5") – Configured for the wider Rock Assault Tacoma-width housing

Choose Left-Hand Drive or Right-Hand Drive based on the steering-wheel position when seated inside the vehicle.

Drop Pitman Arm configurations use the dropped steering-arm geometry. Flat Pitman Arm configurations require additional steering-box clearance work and custom mounting provisions. The steering box may need to be relocated forward and downward or the frame modified and reinforced for clearance.
