Overview
The Project Kics Racing Composite R40 Lug Nut & Lock Set is a lightweight, high-strength wheel-hardware upgrade for Toyota AE86 and first-generation Toyota MR2 AW11 builds running aftermarket wheels with 60° conical lug seats.
Each R40 lug nut combines a forged SCM435 chromoly steel body with a lightweight A7075-T6 aluminum floating taper collar. The two-piece design allows the collar to remain seated against the wheel as the lug nut is tightened, reducing rotational contact against the wheel seat while helping the lug nut center and clamp securely.
The open-ended racing design accommodates standard and extended wheel studs, while four dedicated locking lug nuts provide one wheel lock per corner on the four-lug AE86 and AW11. The Glorious Black finish complements classic JDM, street, drift, autocross, and track-oriented wheel setups.

Floating Taper Collar Design
The Racing Composite R40 uses a free-moving 60° taper collar between the forged chromoly lug body and the wheel.
Because the collar can remain positioned against the wheel as the lug nut is tightened, it reduces rotational friction directly against the wheel seat. This helps minimize scuffing and gouging around the lug opening while maintaining proper centering and clamping.
The A7075-T6 aluminum collar also creates a washer-like effect between the lug body and wheel, helping maintain secure seating while keeping overall lug-nut weight low.

Fitment Notes
- For aftermarket wheels using a 60° conical / tapered lug seat
- Requires M12×1.5 wheel studs
- Not intended for factory OE wheels requiring a flat, mag/shank, ball, or other non-conical lug seat
- Does not fit wheels requiring an inverted lug-nut design
- Fits front and rear wheel positions when the stud thread and wheel-seat requirements are satisfied
- Fits AE86 coupe and hatchback body styles
- Fits applicable naturally aspirated and supercharged AW11 applications because wheel-lug fitment is determined by the wheel studs and wheel-seat design rather than engine configuration
- Open-ended construction accommodates standard wheel studs and extended wheel studs
- Vehicles converted to different hubs or wheel-stud thread sizes must be verified before installation
- Both AE86 and AW11 use four wheel studs per wheel
- For one wheel lock per corner, install 12 standard lug nuts + 4 locking lug nuts
- The remaining 4 standard lug nuts can be retained as spares
- Always verify that the aftermarket wheel uses a true 60° conical seat before installation
