For 1983–1987 Toyota Corolla AE86 equipped with 4A-GE engines and manual transmissions.

Overview

The OS Giken TS Series Soft-Diaphragm Twin Plate Clutch Kit is a performance clutch and flywheel package designed for 1983–1987 JDM Toyota Corolla AE86 and 1985–1987 U.S.-Market Corolla Sport AE86 (GT-S) with 4A-GE and manual transmission. Its twin-plate construction provides increased torque capacity while the softer diaphragm spring helps maintain more manageable pedal effort than the standard TS2A and TS2B configurations.

Two configurations are available. The TS2AS is the smaller, response-focused setup intended primarily for naturally aspirated and lower-torque builds, while the TS2BS uses larger clutch discs and substantially greater torque capacity for supercharged, turbocharged, and higher-output 4A-G applications.

Both configurations use a stamped-steel clutch cover, heat-treated alloy clutch discs, and a matched flywheel.

Fitment Notes

• Only the 4A-GE manual applications and exact configuration choices stated in Vehicle Fitment are covered. Not factory 4A-C SR5, 4A-GZE or automatic configurations.
• Each clutch configuration requires its correct matching OS Giken release sleeve and appropriate OEM-style pilot bearing or bushing. TS2AS and TS2BS release requirements are different; the presence of a sleeve in a bundle does not establish interchangeability between clutch types.
• Modified engine, transmission, flywheel or release-system combinations require matching component interfaces.

Which Soft-Diaphragm Clutch Should You Choose?

TS2AS — Best for Response-Focused 4A-GE Builds

Choose TS2AS for a naturally aspirated or lower-torque modified AE86 when quicker engine response and manageable pedal effort are priorities; its 184 mm twin plates offer approximately 300 lb-ft capacity. Its softer diaphragm reduces pedal effort relative to the standard TS2A. It includes a matched flywheel.

TS2BS — Best for Higher-Torque AE86 Builds

Choose TS2BS when a higher-output AE86 4A-GE build needs more holding capacity: its 204 mm twin plates are rated up to 500 lb-ft. It retains the softer diaphragm and included flywheel while prioritizing torque capacity rather than the smaller-disc response of TS2AS.

Our Recommendation: Choose TS2AS for response-focused builds within its torque range, or TS2BS when an AE86 build needs substantially more holding capacity. Neither is universally better.
