Overview
The CUSCO Adjustable Pillowball Front Tension Rod Set is a performance-oriented front suspension upgrade for the Toyota AE86. Also known as radius rods, the tension rods control the fore-and-aft position of the front lower suspension while providing adjustment for fine-tuning front suspension geometry.
CUSCO replaces the compliant factory rubber-mounted arrangement with pillowball joints to reduce unwanted movement under braking and cornering loads. The more rigid connection helps maintain consistent front suspension geometry while providing more direct steering response and improved stability.
This version includes dedicated CUSCO body-side mounting brackets, providing a complete bracketed tension rod setup rather than the separate configuration designed to reuse the original Toyota brackets.

Suspension Performance
The AE86 front tension rods locate the lower suspension longitudinally and play an important role in maintaining front wheel alignment as the suspension is loaded.
CUSCO's pillowball design reduces the deflection associated with the factory rubber mounting arrangement, helping keep suspension geometry more consistent during hard braking, turn-in, and cornering. The adjustable turnbuckle design also allows the rod length to be fine-tuned for the vehicle's alignment and suspension setup.
