Overview
The CUSCO Front Tension Rod Bar is a chassis reinforcement component designed for Toyota AE86 front suspension applications. The bar connects the left and right tension-rod mounting brackets, reinforcing the mounting area to help reduce chassis flex and improve alignment stability under suspension load.
Constructed from 22 mm steel tubing, the bar uses a turnbuckle-style adjustment mechanism that allows its preload and tension to be set after installation. CUSCO designed the assembly as a bolt-on reinforcement upgrade using the factory-style tension-rod mounting arrangement.
Unlike a sway bar, this component does not primarily control body roll. It reinforces the front lower suspension mounting structure and is intended for AE86 applications retaining the factory-style tension-rod arrangement.

Suspension Reinforcement
The AE86 front tension rods help locate the lower suspension and transmit braking and suspension loads into their chassis mounting brackets. The CUSCO Tension Rod Bar links the left and right bracket assemblies together, reinforcing the mounting area and helping limit unwanted movement under load.
The turnbuckle mechanism adjusts the tension of the reinforcement bar itself, allowing the assembly to be properly set after installation. CUSCO describes the design as improving tension-rod mount rigidity and helping stabilize alignment.
