Trail-Gear Transfer Case Detent Bolt
For 1984–1995 Toyota 4Runner and 1979–1995 Toyota Pickup equipped with 4WD, a manual transmission, and a Toyota gear-driven transfer case.
Overview
The Trail-Gear transfer case detent bolt replaces the threaded plug that retains the shift-detent spring and ball. It fits U.S. 1984–1995 Toyota 4Runner and 1979–1995 Toyota Pickup 4WD manual-transmission applications with a Toyota gear-driven transfer case.
A separate replacement bolt suits a missing or damaged detent plug without buying a complete transfer case. For a broader RF1A bearing-and-seal overhaul, the Trail-Gear RF1A Transfer Case Rebuild Kit supplies bearings, seals and gaskets.
Key Features
- Threaded detent plug for the transfer-case shift mechanism.
- The same bolt fits the detent positions on both sides of the matching gear-driven case.
- One replacement design covers both top-shift and forward-shift gear-driven cases.

Fitment Notes
Important: Gear-driven transfer cases only. Not for G58/ADD, factory automatic or V6 chain-driven transfer cases.
- The installed transfer case determines compatibility. Vehicle year or engine alone does not establish fitment on a modified truck.
- Not for 2WD vehicles without a transfer case or factory turbo 4Runner automatic configurations.
- 21-spline and 23-spline gear-driven case inputs do not require different detent bolts.
