Overview

The Prothane Front Sway Bar Bushing & End Link Kit replaces worn factory rubber sway bar mounting and end-link bushings on 1984–1988 1st Gen Toyota 4Runner 4WD models. Two configurations are available for vehicles equipped with either a 19mm or 23mm front sway bar.

The polyurethane bushings provide a firmer connection between the sway bar, chassis, and end links, helping reduce unwanted bushing deflection and maintain more consistent sway bar operation. Each kit also includes replacement end-link hardware and polyurethane installation grease.

Because both sway bar diameters are used within this vehicle application, physically measure the installed front sway bar before ordering.

Choosing the Correct Sway Bar Size

The 19mm and 23mm configurations are not interchangeable. The sway bar frame bushings must closely match the actual bar diameter to properly support the bar without excessive clearance or binding.

19mm Front Sway Bar

• Approximately 0.74 inch / 3/4 inch

23mm Front Sway Bar

• Approximately 0.90 inch

Digital or vernier calipers provide the most accurate measurement. A 19mm or 3/4-inch open-end wrench can also provide a quick check on a clean, straight section of the bar, but the bar should be measured directly if the size remains uncertain.
