Overview

The Prothane Front Sway Bar Bushing & End Link Kit replaces worn factory rubber sway bar mounting and end-link bushings on 1979–1988 Toyota Pickup 2WD models. Two configurations are available for trucks equipped with either an 18mm or 25mm front sway bar.

The polyurethane bushings provide a firmer connection between the sway bar, chassis, and end links, helping reduce unwanted bushing deflection and maintain more consistent sway bar operation. Each kit also includes application-specific end-link components and polyurethane installation grease.

Because both sway bar diameters are supported within this vehicle range, physically measure the installed front sway bar before ordering rather than selecting a kit solely by model year or engine.

Choosing the Correct Sway Bar Size

The 18mm and 25mm configurations are not interchangeable. The frame-mounted bushings must closely match the actual sway bar diameter to properly support the bar without excessive clearance or binding.

18mm Front Sway Bar

  • Approximately 0.70 inch

25mm Front Sway Bar

  • Approximately 0.98 inch / 1 inch

Digital or vernier calipers provide the most accurate measurement. An 18mm open-end wrench can also provide a quick check on a clean, straight portion of the sway bar, but a bar that does not fit the wrench should be measured directly rather than automatically assumed to be 25mm.
