Overview

The Prothane Polyurethane Front Strut Rod Bushing Kit replaces worn factory rubber strut rod bushings on 1979–1995 Toyota Pickup 2WD models. One kit services both the driver and passenger sides and includes four polyurethane bushings with two replacement metal sleeves.

The strut rods help control fore-and-aft movement of the front suspension during braking and acceleration. Firmer polyurethane bushings reduce excessive deflection at these mounting points, helping maintain more consistent front suspension geometry and steering response as the suspension is loaded.

This single application spans all three Toyota Pickup generations from 1979 through 1995, with no separate kit required by model year. Black and red versions use the same durometer and provide the same intended fit and performance.

Strut Rod Function

The front strut rods help locate the lower suspension while limiting unwanted fore-and-aft movement during braking and acceleration. As the original rubber bushings age and compress, additional movement can develop at the strut rod mounting points.

Polyurethane provides a firmer mounting interface than aging factory rubber, helping the strut rods control suspension movement more consistently. The firmer material may also transmit slightly more noise, vibration, and harshness than an original-style rubber bushing.
