Overview

The NGK Laser Platinum / Iridium IX Spark Plug Set provides two spark-plug options for 4A-GE-powered Toyota Corolla AE86 Trueno, Levin, and U.S.-market GT-S models. Each configuration contains four spark plugs.

Choose Laser Platinum for an OE-spec precious-metal electrode design and long service life, or Iridium IX for its fine-wire iridium center electrode and performance-oriented ignitability.

Factory Pre-Gapped — 1.1 mm (0.044 in.) for both Laser Platinum and Iridium IX, matching the stock naturally aspirated 4A-GE service gap. Both choices use NGK heat range 5, M14 x 1.25 thread, 19 mm reach, resistor construction, and a gasket seat.

Iridium IX — Best for Spirited Driving & Throttle Response

Choose Iridium IX if you enjoy spirited driving and prefer NGK's performance-oriented plug, designed to support responsive throttle feel and consistent ignition during acceleration. It is not a guaranteed horsepower or throttle-response upgrade over fresh Laser Platinum plugs, and it typically has a shorter service interval.
