Overview

The AE86 Headlight Retractor Relay is a modern electronic replacement for the aging factory relay circuitry that controls the pop-up headlights on Toyota AE86 models equipped with the retractable headlight system. This includes North American Corolla Sport SR5 and GT-S models as well as Japanese-market Sprinter Trueno applications.

A failing original relay can cause intermittent operation, headlights that fail to raise or retract, or inconsistent headlight motor control. This replacement circuit board restores the factory-style retractor control logic using all-new electronic components while retaining the original vehicle wiring and headlight-system operation.

Installation is plug-and-play and requires no cutting, soldering, or wiring modification. The replacement circuit board installs inside the original Toyota relay housing, allowing the factory case, mounting bracket, and connectors to remain in use.

Electrical Design

The replacement circuit board performs the control functions required to operate the factory pop-up headlight motors while preserving the original system behavior.

Rather than replacing the complete factory enclosure, the new electronics install inside the existing relay case. This keeps the original mounting arrangement and vehicle wiring intact while replacing the aging internal circuitry.
