WIX Automatic Transmission Filter Kit

For 1981–1995 Toyota Pickup equipped with 2WD, a 22R or 22R-E engine and a four-speed automatic transmission.

Overview

This WIX kit supplies a replacement internal transmission strainer and its pan and inlet gaskets for 22R and 22R-E Toyota Pickup four-speed automatics. The 2WD engine-year ranges are 1981–1987 with the 22R and 1984–1995 with the 22R-E.

The five-point strainer mount and 14-hole pan gasket distinguish its service interface from the three-speed and A340-family designs. It is a filter-and-gasket kit, rather than an all-consumables transmission service package.

Toyota Pickup — 1st Gen — 2WD

  • 1981: 22R 2.4L, four-speed automatic, half-ton long-bed SR5 or California-emissions long-bed Deluxe. The SR5 application is not limited to California emissions.
  • 1982–1983: 22R 2.4L, four-speed automatic, half-ton Deluxe or SR5 long bed.

Toyota Pickup — 2nd Gen — 2WD

  • 1984–1987: 22R 2.4L, four-speed automatic, half-ton.
  • 1984–1988: 22R-E 2.4L, four-speed automatic, incomplete-vehicle configurations.
  • 1985–1988: 22R-E 2.4L, four-speed automatic, half-ton.
  • 1986–1988: 22R-E 2.4L, four-speed automatic, one-ton.

Toyota Pickup — 3rd Gen — 2WD

  • 1989–1995: 22R-E 2.4L, four-speed automatic, half-ton.

Fitment Notes

  • Four-speed automatic only. The 1981 Federal-emissions Deluxe three-speed automatic is not compatible.
  • Does not fit 4WD, 20R, turbocharged 22R-TE, V6 or manual-transmission applications. The carbureted 22R automatic application ends with the 1987 model year.
  • Factory U.S.-market configurations only. A transmission conversion requires separate verification of the installed strainer and inlet interface; a shared pan-bolt pattern alone does not establish compatibility.
