Overview

The TOMEI Adjustable Cam Gear provides precise valve-timing adjustment for Toyota 4A-G 16-valve engines. The pulley and gear use duralumin construction to reduce rotating mass while retaining the strength required for performance engine builds.

The gear uses a slide-type adjustment mechanism and is common to the intake and exhaust camshaft positions. Each gear weighs approximately 250 g.

Cam Timing Adjustment

Advancing or retarding cam timing can be used to alter engine response and powerband characteristics. Final settings should be established with proper valve-timing measurement procedures and matched to the installed camshaft and engine combination.

Keep the gear at the 0° reference position until the engine setup has been checked. Incorrect valve timing can cause piston-to-valve contact and engine damage.

• Does not fit factory USDM AE86 Corolla Sport SR5 4A-C engines.
• A properly converted SR5 may use this gear when equipped with a compatible 4A-G 16-valve timing system.
• Not for 20-valve 4A-GE applications.
