Front Blower Motor Resistor
For 1984–1989 Toyota 4Runner with Original A/C or August 1986-Onward Front Heater Circuits and 1984–1988 Toyota Pickup with Original A/C or August 1986-Onward Heavy-Duty Heater Circuits
Overview
This Standard resistor regulates current in the front heater and A/C blower circuit, providing the lower fan-speed settings controlled by the dashboard switch.
Toyota used different resistor circuits within these model years. This assembly covers the original four-terminal cooler circuit, the Pickup factory heavy-duty heater from the August 1986 production change, and the first-generation 4Runner front-heater circuit from that change.
Key Features
- 12-volt electrical application
- Four male blade terminals for the original connector interface
- One rectangular female connector housing
- Copper electrical connectors
- Screw attachment at the front blower housing
Vehicle Fitment
All applications require: U.S.-market vehicles with the original Toyota front blower circuit specified for the engine, transmission and heater/A/C configuration.

Fitment Notes
- Four terminals alone do not establish fitment. Pickup standard-heater / boost-ventilator circuits use a different resistor even when the connector has four contacts.
- Not for the three-terminal heater circuit or the optional rear heater.
- The factory heavy-duty heater is a separate equipment option; a truck’s payload rating or cab/chassis body does not identify that heater.
- Cab/chassis applications retain the original Toyota cabin HVAC requirements. Vehicle-year coverage does not establish fitment after changes to the blower housing, control switch or wiring, or for dealer-installed / aftermarket A/C conversions.
