Overview

ST Suspensions sway bars offer a 21 mm front bar, 13 mm rear bar, or front-and-rear set for the Toyota MR2 AW11. Multi-hole endlink mounting provides roll-stiffness adjustment, while matched pivot bushings support the selected bar diameter.

Choose the axle configuration to suit the handling balance you want to change. A front-only purchase leaves the rear arrangement unchanged; adding rear roll stiffness changes the car’s cornering balance and is not an automatic improvement for every setup. Rear-containing configurations require original-style rear spring perches and drilling.

Fitment Notes

• Front and Front + Rear: Serviceable factory front sway-bar brackets, bracket bolts and endlinks are required and not included.
• Rear and Front + Rear: Original-style rear struts with intact lower spring perches are required. Aftermarket coilovers or altered rear spring perches are outside this rear-bar fitment.
• Rear spring-perch drilling is required for Rear and Front + Rear configurations. Factory endlink-tab or exhaust-heatshield trimming may also be needed.
• Rear-containing configurations fit factory rear-bar and no-rear-bar arrangements using the supplied mounting components; the original rear endlink tab is not required.
• Manual and automatic transmissions and factory coupe/T-bar body styles are covered where originally offered. U.S.-Market 1985 applications are manual only; JDM supercharged applications begin August 1986.

Front — Best for changing the front bar while preserving the existing rear setup.

Choose the 21 mm front bar when you want front-bar adjustment without adding or replacing a rear bar.

Rear — Best for adding rear-bar adjustment while retaining your current front bar.

Choose the 13 mm rear kit when a rear handling-balance change is your goal and the original-style spring perches are retained.

Front + Rear — Best for changing both axle bars together.

Choose the manufacturer’s set when you deliberately want the 21 mm front and 13 mm rear bars in one purchase, with the rear mounting components included.

Whiteline 18 mm rear bar — Best for retaining an existing factory rear-bar mounting setup.

The Whiteline 18 mm adjustable rear sway bar is another option for U.S.-Market 1985–1989 naturally aspirated and 1988–1989 supercharged cars with the complete original rear mounting system. It includes the bar and pivot bushings, rather than the ST rear mounting kit.

Our Recommendation: Choose only the axle change your setup needs. Front preserves the existing rear arrangement; Rear adds a rear-bar tuning option; Front + Rear suits a planned change at both ends. Rear-containing configurations require spring-perch drilling, so they are not a direct bolt-on choice.
