Overview

The Prothane Polyurethane Rear Control Arm Bushing Kit replaces worn factory rubber rear control arm bushings on 1990–1995 2nd Gen Toyota 4Runner models. The same kit fits both 2WD and 4WD applications and services the rear suspension on both sides of the vehicle.

The firmer polyurethane construction helps reduce unwanted bushing deflection and excessive rear axle movement while maintaining more consistent suspension geometry. Compared with aging factory rubber, polyurethane also provides increased resistance to deformation and deterioration over time.

The kit includes 20 application-specific polyurethane bushing pieces, eight metal sleeves, two flat washers, and installation grease. Black and red versions use the same durometer and provide the same intended suspension performance.

Rear Suspension Performance

Factory rubber control arm bushings repeatedly flex as the rear suspension moves. As they age, the rubber can crack, soften, or sag around the inner sleeves, allowing additional movement between the rear axle and chassis.

Polyurethane provides a firmer suspension pivot that reduces excessive bushing deformation while retaining the movement required for normal suspension operation. Because polyurethane is firmer than factory rubber, a slight increase in noise, vibration, and harshness may be noticeable.
