Overview
Restore a more secure steering rack mount and more precise steering response with the Prothane Polyurethane Steering Rack Bushing Kit. Designed to replace aging factory rubber steering rack bushings, this kit reduces unwanted rack movement at the chassis mounting points for a firmer, more consistent connection between the steering system and vehicle.
Prothane polyurethane is substantially firmer than conventional OE-style rubber, helping the steering rack remain securely located as steering loads increase. The result is more direct steering response and improved road feedback, making these bushings well suited to restoration projects, street-driven classics, autocross cars, drift builds, and track applications.
The bushings install at the factory steering rack mounting locations without permanent chassis modification. They are available in black or red polyurethane, manufactured in the USA, and backed by Prothane's lifetime warranty.

Polyurethane vs. OE Rubber
Factory rubber steering rack bushings are designed to provide vibration isolation and a softer steering feel, but the material can soften, crack, and deform as it ages. Increased bushing compliance allows the steering rack itself to move slightly within its mounts before steering input is transferred through the rest of the system.
Polyurethane creates a firmer connection between the rack and chassis, reducing this movement and producing more immediate steering feedback. The tradeoff is a slightly more direct transfer of road feel compared with fresh OE-style rubber, making polyurethane especially appropriate for drivers who prioritize steering precision and durability.
