NTK Heated Zirconia Upstream Oxygen Sensor
For 1988–1991 Toyota Corolla AE92 coupe equipped with the 4A-GE or 4A-GZE and an original heated zirconia upstream sensor circuit.
Overview
This NTK sensor replaces the upstream oxygen sensor on 1988–1989 U.S.-market Toyota Corolla AE92 GT-S coupes, 1990–1991 California-emissions GT-S coupes with the 4A-GE, and 1989–1991 Japanese-market supercharged AE92 coupes with the 4A-GZE. The attached harness and connector match the original heated zirconia sensor connection.
The zirconia sensor produces a voltage signal for the engine's original oxygen-sensor circuit. It is not interchangeable with a titania sensor, which changes electrical resistance. Original sensor-circuit identity is essential for transition-production vehicles.
Key Features
- Connector-equipped harness retains the original sensor connection without a universal splice-in conversion.
- Integrated heater matches the original heated sensor configuration.
- Flange-mounted design for the specified original exhaust interface.
Vehicle Fitment
Toyota Corolla — AE92
- 1989–1991: Sprinter Trueno coupe (JDM) / 4A-GZE / 05/1989–06/1991 Production / original heated zirconia circuit.
- 1989–1991: Corolla Levin coupe (JDM) / 4A-GZE / 05/1989–06/1991 Production / original heated zirconia circuit.
- 1988–1989: GT-S coupe (U.S.-Market) / 4A-GE / 08/1987–08/1989 Production / original zirconia No. 1 upstream circuit.
- 1990–1991: GT-S coupe (U.S.-Market) / 4A-GE / California emissions / No. 1 upstream.
Important: May 1989 Japanese-market builds and August 1989 U.S.-market builds require the original sensor-circuit identity as well as the production date. A transition-month date alone does not establish which sensor fits.
Fitment Notes
- Does not replace the original titania sensor in 1990–1991 U.S.-market Federal-emissions GT-S coupes. Original vehicle application or service records must establish the circuit; a previously fitted replacement sensor is not sufficient by itself.
- Upstream replacement only. The California Corolla No. 2 downstream sensor is a separate position.
- Not a replacement for single-circuit sensors in Japanese-market naturally aspirated 4A-GE coupes or 05/1987–05/1989 Production 4A-GZE coupes.
- Original exhaust, connector and electrical configuration only; engine swaps and altered wiring require separate evaluation.
