Overview

The Longfield 30-Spline Gun-Drilled Birfield & Axle Super Set is a comprehensive heavy-duty front axle upgrade for Toyota-style solid axle applications. The set combines 30-spline Longfield birfields, 4340 chromoly axle shafts, chromoly hub gears, and Creeper Drive Flanges in one upgraded package.

The birfields use forged 4340 chromoly housings with dual heat-treated 4340 chromoly internals. A gun-drilled grease passage provides direct lubrication access through an M8 fitting at the end of the stub shaft, while the Machined Spline Saver design reduces stress concentration near the splines.

The set fits factory solid-axle Toyota trucks through 1985 and can also be used on 1986–1995 Toyota 4Runner and Toyota Pickup 4WD solid axle conversions using a compatible Toyota-style solid front axle housing. Standard-width, +3-inch, and +5-inch configurations support factory-width and widened axle builds.

Gun-Drilled Birfield & Spline Saver Design

The gun-drilled design creates an internal grease passage through the birfield, allowing lubricant to reach the joint through the M8 fitting at the end of the stub shaft. This provides easier access for routine birfield lubrication without disassembling the axle solely to service the joint.

The Machined Spline Saver uses a shallow relief near the stub-shaft spline transition to reduce stress concentration in a high-load area of the birfield.
