Overview
The HKS Adjustable Slide Cam Pulley provides precise camshaft timing adjustment for Toyota 4A-GE and 4A-GZE engines, allowing valve timing to be advanced or retarded to suit different camshafts, engine combinations, and tuning goals.
The pulley is machined from lightweight A2014 duralumin and uses nickel-plated gear teeth for increased surface hardness and wear resistance. Compared with the previous HKS design, the updated material provides approximately 50% greater strength and 30% greater hardness, making it well suited to high-RPM engines and reinforced timing belts.
Adjustment is provided across a ±20° crank-angle range, with each graduation representing approximately 2° of crankshaft angle. The center position corresponds to approximately the same timing phase as the factory cam pulley.

Cam Timing Adjustment
Adjustable cam timing allows the installed camshaft position to be changed relative to the crankshaft. This is particularly useful when installing aftermarket camshafts, correcting cam timing after engine machining, or tuning the engine's power and torque characteristics.
The pulley provides approximately 40° of total crank-angle adjustment, from 20° retard to 20° advance. Each adjustment mark corresponds to approximately 2° of crankshaft angle, allowing small, repeatable timing changes.
Camshaft timing directly affects valve events and engine operation, so timing adjustments should be verified carefully during installation and final engine tuning.
