For 1988–1995 Toyota 4Runner and 1988–1995 Toyota Pickup equipped with the 3VZ-E engine.

Overview

This Genuine Toyota knock sensor replaces the original sensor in the engine's factory mounting location. It supplies the engine-control system with the knock-detection signal used for ignition control.

Two connector configurations cover the production change within these applications. Choose the option that matches the vehicle's production range and original sensor connector. A knock-sensor fault can also originate in the wiring or connector; replacing the sensor does not repair damaged wiring.

Fitment Notes

• 1988–08/1991 Production: match the original sensor's narrow protruding connector tower and recessed rectangular keyed socket.
• 08/1991–1995 Production: match the original sensor's large open oval-shaped connector shroud. This production range includes vehicles built in 1991 for the later model years.
• August 1991 production: the original connector is the deciding feature because the two production ranges meet in this month. Connector color is not a selection guide.
• The two options are not interchangeable connector conversions. For the original engine mounting and wiring arrangement only; aftermarket relocation, bypass wiring and engine swaps are not covered.
• The wiring harness is not included.
