For 1988–1989 Toyota MR2 AW11 and 1987–1990 Toyota Corolla AE92 coupe equipped with 4A-GZE engines, manual transmissions and the original 224/225 mm clutch system.

Overview

This EXEDY Stage 1 kit pairs a spring-damped organic clutch disc with a performance pressure plate for street-focused use in the 1988–1989 U.S.-Market Toyota MR2 AW11 Supercharged and 05/1987–10/1990 production JDM Toyota Corolla AE92 coupe 4A-GZE with the original 224/225 mm system. The organic design keeps engagement suited to everyday driving, with firmer pedal effort than a standard replacement clutch.

It retains the 225 mm supercharged clutch format and 21-tooth / 29.8 mm input-spline interface. The kit works with the matching original-equipment supercharged flywheel; a flywheel conversion is not part of this package.

October 1990 is a changeover period: actual original equipment controls fitment. The later 230 mm clutch/flywheel system is not covered, including transition-month cars fitted with that system.

Fitment Notes

• Does not fit factory naturally aspirated 4A-GE, automatic-transmission or later 230 mm AE92 clutch/flywheel configurations.
• The supplied pilot bearing is a kit accessory; these MR2 and AE92 transaxle applications do not use a pilot bearing.
• Requires the matching supercharged flywheel and release arrangement. Engine swaps alone do not establish fitment; mixed transaxle, flywheel or release-system combinations fall outside the factory application.
