CUSCO Type OS Aluminum Front Strut Tower Brace
For 1984–1989 JDM Toyota MR2 AW11 and 1985–1989 U.S.-Market Toyota MR2 AW11
Overview
The CUSCO Type OS front strut tower brace joins the front suspension towers on the 1984–1989 JDM Toyota MR2 AW11 and 1985–1989 U.S.-Market MR2 AW11. By tying the towers together, the brace is designed to reduce chassis flex and increase rigidity around the front suspension mounting points. Its polished oval-section aluminum shaft and blue mounting plates provide an aftermarket bracing option for both naturally aspirated and supercharged cars.
The brace obstructs the factory front-trunk storage position for removable sunroof glass. Retaining the original sunroof-compatible brace is the better choice when that storage function matters.
Key Features
- Oval aluminum shaft with a polished finish
- Blue end plates shaped for the AW11 front strut towers
- Bolt-on mounting at the factory front strut-tower locations
- Naturally aspirated and supercharged fitment without an engine-specific front-brace choice
- Fitting hardware included with the brace assembly
Vehicle Fitment
Toyota MR2 — AW11 / MK1
- 1984–1989: JDM
- 1985–1989: U.S.-Market
Fitment Notes
- Removable sunroof glass cannot be stored in its factory front-trunk position with this brace installed. This storage limitation is not an exclusion of sunroof-equipped cars.
- Fitment is for factory AW11 front strut-tower mounting locations. Aftermarket upper mounts or modified mounting arrangements require an individual clearance and hardware check.

Which One Should You Buy?
CUSCO Type AS — Best for Front-Bracing Value
Choose the Type AS if you want CUSCO front-tower bracing at a lower price point.
CUSCO Type OS — Best for Rigidity-Focused Front Bracing
Choose the Type OS if you want high rigidity front-tower reinforcement using CUSCO's lightweight oval aluminum shaft.
Both use blue steel mounting plates at the factory front strut-tower locations and serve the same bracing purpose; neither requires a different choice for naturally aspirated versus supercharged AW11s.
Our Recommendation: Choose the Type AS for lower-cost CUSCO front reinforcement, or the Type OS for its high-rigidity oval-shaft design. If factory removable-sunroof-glass storage is essential, retain the compatible original brace instead.
Matching Rear Bracing
For bracing at both ends of the car, the CUSCO AW11 rear strut brace is a separate, optional component. The rear brace must be selected for the naturally aspirated or supercharged engine layout; the front brace does not replace it or require it.
