Bilstein B6 4600 Stock Ride Height Front Shock

For 1984–1995 Toyota 4Runner at stock suspension ride height

Overview

The Bilstein B6 4600 Front Shock is a direct-fit performance replacement for stock-height Toyota 4Runner front suspension. Its high-pressure monotube design and velocity-sensitive digressive valving provide consistent damping control for daily driving, highway use, towing, gravel roads, and light off-road use without requiring external adjustment.

Three year-range applications cover the 1984–1995 4Runner platform. Each uses application-specific dimensions and mounting geometry, so select the Year Range option that matches the vehicle.

Key Features

  • Stock ride-height application using factory-style suspension geometry
  • High-pressure monotube gas design for consistent damping performance
  • Velocity-sensitive digressive valving that reacts to changing road and suspension inputs
  • Application-specific tuning for the supported Toyota 4Runner year range
  • Non-adjustable damping with no external reservoir
  • Direct-fit upper and lower mounting configuration
  • Yellow shock body with blue protective boot
  • Available individually or as a pair

Vehicle Fitment

All applications require: front installation and stock / factory suspension ride height.

Toyota 4Runner

  • 1984–1985 Toyota 4Runner – 1st Gen – 4WD, solid front axle
  • 1986–1989 Toyota 4Runner – 1st Gen – 4WD, IFS
  • 1990–1995 Toyota 4Runner – 2nd Gen – 2WD or 4WD, IFS

Fitment Notes

  • Front application only
  • Designed for stock / factory suspension ride height
  • Select the year-range option that matches the vehicle; the three applications use different dimensions and should not be interchanged
  • Two shocks are required to replace both front shocks
  • Not intended as a dedicated suspension-lift shock
  • Modified suspension systems, relocated shock mounts, altered bump stops, or suspension conversions must be checked for proper compressed and extended shock length before ordering

Which Front Shock Should You Buy?

KYB Excel-G — Best for Factory-Style Comfort & Value

Choose KYB Excel-G for an affordable, factory-style replacement that prioritizes comfortable everyday driving and original-style ride quality at stock height.

KYB Gas-a-Just — Best for Firmer Stock-Height Control

Choose KYB Gas-a-Just for firmer, more responsive monotube damping without stepping up to Bilstein. It offers a more controlled ride feel without changing suspension height or vehicle load capacity.

Bilstein B6 4600 — Best for Overall Stock-Height Performance

Choose Bilstein B6 4600 for premium monotube damping with controlled, responsive handling during daily driving, highway travel, and light off-road use.

ARB / Old Man Emu Nitrocharger Plus — Best for OME Suspension Builds & Demanding Use

Choose OME Nitrocharger Plus for matched OME suspension setups, frequent rough-road use, or vehicles carrying additional equipment weight. Suitable for supported 1986–1995 4WD IFS applications at stock height through approximately 2 inches of front lift.

Our Recommendation: For most stock-height Toyota 4Runner owners, Bilstein B6 4600 is our preferred all-around choice. Choose KYB Excel-G for comfort and value, KYB Gas-a-Just for firmer budget-friendly control, or Old Man Emu Nitrocharger Plus for compatible OME suspension builds and more demanding use.
