Overview

The KYB Excel-G front shock fits 1984–1989 JDM and 1985–1989 U.S.-Market Toyota MR2 models with original serviceable front housings and stock-height suspension. Its nitrogen-gas-charged twin-tube damping is intended to restore factory-style road control and ride comfort—a practical choice for daily driving and original-style suspension refreshes rather than adjustable performance tuning.

This shock is a replacement insert for a serviceable front strut housing, not a complete strut assembly. The vehicle's correct housing, spring and upper mount remain separate components and are not included.

Fitment Notes

  • Housing identification: A removable threaded gland nut at the top of a serviceable housing retains the insert.
  • For unmodified stock-height suspension applications. Lowered, swapped, coilover or converted strut assemblies are outside this fitment.
