Overview

This CUSCO rear upper mount pair adds camber adjustment to an existing compatible straight-spring suspension on the 1984–1989 Toyota MR2 AW11. It is a mount-only set for retaining suitable existing upper spring seats, not a complete coilover conversion or a replacement for use with factory-shaped springs.

The spherical pillowball bearings provide a rigid upper connection instead of rubber isolation. This suits owners who prioritize alignment control over factory-style isolation; more noise and vibration can reach the body, and the bearings remain wear items.

All applications require a straight-spring rear assembly meeting the component requirements below.

Fitment Notes

• Each rear strut requires one compatible, serviceable upper spring seat already suited to the assembly. Each seat must match the spring's inside diameter and the actual damper-shaft and collar support geometry. Factory-shaped springs and their original upper-seat arrangement are excluded.
• M14 × 1.5 thread alone does not establish fitment. The damper's usable threaded length, unthreaded shoulder diameter and length, and the seat's center height must suit the supplied recessed nut and collar dimensions. The collar must properly support both the seat and the pillowball bearing.
• At least 5 mm of clearance is required between the upper mount and spring seat at maximum tilt. Available camber adjustment varies with the actual strut, seat and surrounding-body clearance.
• This offering uses the supplied nut/collar arrangement. Assemblies requiring different nuts, collars or clearance modifications are outside this configuration. Upper seats and the other components needed to build a new straight-spring conversion are not included.

Choose this pair when your existing rear suspension meets the shaft, seat and clearance requirements and you want upper-mount camber adjustment. It does not supply the missing components for a new conversion.

CUSCO fixed rear pillowball mounts — Best for retaining factory-shaped springs

Choose the fixed pair for its original-strut and factory-shaped-spring arrangement when upper-mount camber adjustment is not needed. It remains a rigid pillowball mount, not an OE-style rubber mount for maximum isolation.

Our Recommendation: Match the mount to the suspension you already have: choose this adjustable pair only for an existing compatible straight-spring arrangement, or the fixed pair for its original-strut and factory-shaped-spring application.
