Overview

The ARP Pro Series Cylinder Head Stud Kit is a performance-grade cylinder head fastening upgrade for Toyota 4A-GE 1.6L DOHC 16-valve engines, including the engine used in the AE86 Corolla Levin, Sprinter Trueno, and Corolla Sport GT-S.

The kit replaces the factory cylinder-head fasteners with 8740 chromoly steel studs, 12-point nuts, and hardened parallel-ground washers. The stud design provides a strong, consistent clamping connection between the cylinder head and engine block, making it well suited to engine rebuilds, performance builds, and applications where dependable cylinder-head sealing is important.

The kit uses ten application-specific studs in three lengths to match the factory 4A-GE cylinder-head mounting locations.

Installation & Torque Requirements

The cylinder-head studs install into M10 × 1.25 block threads and should be threaded into the engine block hand tight only.

With ARP Ultra-Torque applied to the stud threads, nut faces, and washers, the cylinder-head nuts are tightened following the proper Toyota cylinder-head torque sequence in three equal steps to a final torque of 60 ft-lb.

The ten studs use three application-specific lengths:

• Five M10 studs measuring 4.250 inches
• Four M10 studs measuring 5.000 inches
• One M10 stud measuring 4.800 inches

Engine-block threads should be thoroughly cleaned before installation to ensure proper thread engagement and accurate torque readings.
