Overview

The Prothane Polyurethane Front Sway Bar Bushing Kit replaces worn factory-style rubber front sway bar frame-mount bushings with firmer polyurethane bushings for more consistent stabilizer-bar support and response.

Two front sway bar diameters are offered for the supported AE86 applications: 21mm and 22mm. The 21mm configuration covers the verified Japanese-market Trueno and Levin applications as well as the U.S.-market SR5, while the 22mm configuration covers the U.S.-market GT-S.

Because many AE86s have received replacement or aftermarket sway bars over the years, measure the actual front sway bar outside diameter before ordering and select the bushing size that matches the bar currently installed on the vehicle.

21mm vs. 22mm Front Sway Bar Fitment

The bushing inside diameter must match the outside diameter of the front sway bar.

• 21mm: 1983–1987 Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86, 1983–1987 Toyota Corolla Levin AE86, and 1984–1987 U.S.-market Corolla Sport SR5 AE86
• 22mm: 1985–1987 U.S.-market Corolla Sport GT-S AE86

Use digital or vernier calipers to measure a clean, straight section of the sway bar. Vehicles with replacement or aftermarket sway bars may no longer use the original diameter associated with their model or trim, so the physical measurement should be used as the final size confirmation.
