Overview

The Yukon Gear 5.29 Ring & Pinion Gear Set is a deep-ratio differential upgrade for classic Toyota 4WD applications equipped with the standard Toyota 8-inch 4-cylinder differential. The 5.29:1 ratio is well suited to vehicles running larger tires or builds focused on low-speed trail performance, rock crawling, and improved mechanical advantage.

This version uses a 29-spline pinion rather than the factory-style 27-spline configuration found in many original Toyota 8-inch differentials. Vehicles retaining 27-spline pinion hardware require the appropriate 29-spline companion flange, pinion seal, and pinion nut for installation.

Fitment is determined by the differential housing, not engine alone. The standard 4-cylinder Toyota 8-inch third member was commonly used with 20R, 22R, and 22RE applications and is different from the V6/Turbo-style 8-inch differential and the 7.5-inch IFS front differential.

Standard 4-Cylinder Toyota 8" Differential
