For 1986–1995 Toyota 4Runner & Pickup with 4-Cylinder Toyota 8" Rear Differential
Overview
The Yukon Gear 4-Cylinder Master Differential Overhaul Kit provides the bearings, races, seals, shims, and installation components required to rebuild the Toyota 8-inch 4-cylinder rear differential used in 1986–1995 Toyota 4Runner and Pickup applications.
Premium Timken bearings and races are combined with application-specific seals, shims, hardware, and differential setup components. Multiple configurations allow the kit to be matched to the installed factory or aftermarket ring-and-pinion, 45mm or 50mm differential carrier, and either a conventional crush sleeve or solid pinion spacer.
The ring-and-pinion configuration and carrier-bearing configuration are separate specifications. Select each option according to the components actually being installed rather than vehicle year alone.

Ring & Pinion Configuration
OEM 1986+ Ring & Pinion
The factory 1986–1995 Toyota 8-inch 4-cylinder ring-and-pinion uses a 27-spline pinion with the later 1-5/8-inch pinion-head bearing configuration.
Select this option when retaining the original-style 1986+ ring-and-pinion.
Aftermarket Ring & Pinion
Select this configuration when installing an aftermarket ring-and-pinion that uses the earlier-style 1-1/2-inch pinion-head bearing configuration, including the applicable Yukon 29-spline gear sets.
When using a 29-spline Yukon ring-and-pinion, the corresponding 29-spline pinion yoke, seal, and nut are also required. Those components are not included with this overhaul-kit listing.
Carrier Bearing Configuration
45mm Carrier
Select the 45mm configuration when using the original Toyota 4-cylinder differential carrier or an applicable aftermarket locker with 45mm carrier journals.
50mm Carrier
Select the 50mm configuration when installing an applicable 50mm-journal ARB Air Locker, Yukon Zip Locker, or V6-style locker carrier into the Toyota 8-inch 4-cylinder third member.
The 50mm configuration includes the appropriate carrier bearings and races for the larger carrier journal. Additional carrier conversion bearings are not required.
Pinion Spacer Configuration
Standard Crush Sleeve
Uses the conventional crush-sleeve method to establish pinion-bearing preload.
Solid Pinion Spacer Upgrade
Replaces the crush sleeve with a solid spacer and shim-adjusted preload system. This provides a reusable method of setting pinion-bearing preload during differential setup.

Fitment Notes
- Toyota 8" 4-cylinder rear differential only
- Does not fit Toyota 7.5" IFS front differentials
- Does not fit 22R-TE Turbo or 3VZ-E V6-style rear differential applications
- Factory 1986+ ring-and-pinion applications use the later 1-5/8" pinion-head configuration
- Aftermarket ring-and-pinion applications may require the 1-1/2" pinion-head bearing configuration
- Select the carrier-bearing kit according to the 45mm or 50mm carrier journal
- Pinion configuration and carrier-journal diameter are separate specifications
- 29-spline Yukon gear installations require the appropriate 29-spline yoke, seal, and pinion nut
- Verify the installed third member before ordering, especially on vehicles with swapped differentials
- Proper pinion preload, backlash, and gear contact pattern must be established during installation
- Professional differential setup is recommended
