Total Chaos King Kong Heavy-Duty Steering System Upgrade with Pitman Arm
For 1986–1995 Toyota 4Runner & Toyota Pickup 4WD with Caddy Idler Arm & Heim Joint Tie Rod Steering
Overview
The Total Chaos King Kong Heavy-Duty Steering System Upgrade reinforces key steering linkage components on 1986–1995 Toyota 4Runner and Pickup 4WD models equipped with the required Total Chaos steering components.
The system replaces the standard centerlink and pitman-arm connection with a gusseted factory-style centerlink, reinforced 4130 chromoly pitman arm, and 3/4-inch stainless steel uniball. This combination increases steering-linkage strength and helps reduce flex and unwanted movement under demanding off-road loads.
The upgraded centerlink retains the factory mounting location while the rebuildable uniball connection provides additional articulation for modified steering and long travel suspension applications.
Key Features
- Heavy-duty King Kong steering system upgrade
- Gusseted factory-style centerlink
- Reinforced 4130 chromoly pitman arm
- 3/4-inch stainless steel uniball
- PTFE-lined uniball for smooth articulation and reduced operating noise
- Heat-treated high-misalignment spacers
- Designed for demanding off-road and long travel applications
- Retains factory centerlink mounting location
- Grade 8 mounting hardware
- Fully rebuildable design
Reinforced Centerlink & Pitman Arm Design
The upgraded centerlink and pitman arm strengthen critical points in the Toyota steering linkage that can experience increased loads when larger tires, increased suspension travel, and aggressive off-road driving are introduced.
The pitman arm is reinforced using 4130 chromoly construction and incorporates a pre-installed 3/4-inch stainless steel uniball with a PTFE liner. Heat-treated high-misalignment spacers allow the joint to operate through the required steering range while maintaining a strong connection.
The gusseted centerlink retains the factory-style mounting arrangement, allowing the system to reinforce the steering linkage without relocating the primary mounting location.
