Overview

The TOMEI Expreme Ti Type-R is an ultra-lightweight full-titanium cat-back exhaust developed for competition-oriented Toyota AE86 builds. This listing covers the major rear-wheel-drive AE86 applications sold in both markets: USDM Corolla Sport GT-S and SR5, plus JDM Corolla Levin and Sprinter Trueno.

The Type-R uses an aggressive under-axle racing layout to reduce exhaust length, bends, and overall system weight. Its 60.5 mm main pipe, thin-wall titanium construction, 89.1 mm single outlet, and approximately 3.7 kg / 8.16 lb system weight make it substantially lighter than a conventional steel exhaust.

A removable sound reducer and the installation hardware needed for the exhaust assembly are included. Because the Type-R runs beneath the rear axle, ground clearance is lower than with a conventional over-axle exhaust and should be considered on lowered street cars.

Type-R Competition Layout

The Type-R routes the exhaust beneath the rear axle instead of following a more conventional over-axle path. The straighter routing reduces the amount of piping required and helps keep total system mass exceptionally low.

This design is best suited to track, motorsport, and competition-focused AE86 builds where low weight and direct exhaust routing take priority over maximum ground clearance. Owners of lowered vehicles should verify available rear-axle and road clearance before installation.
