Prothane Polyurethane Rear Sway Bar Bushing Kit – 18mm

For 1990–1995 Toyota 4Runner 4WD

Overview

Restore rear suspension control, cornering stability, and predictable handling in your 1990–1995 Toyota 4Runner 4WD with the Prothane Polyurethane Rear Sway Bar Bushings for 18mm sway bars.

This direct-fit suspension kit replaces aging factory rubber sway bar bushings with durable polyurethane components. Worn rubber bushings can allow excessive sway bar movement, contributing to increased body roll, suspension noise, and less consistent handling. Prothane polyurethane helps maintain a secure connection between the rear sway bar, chassis mounts, and end links for more controlled suspension response.

This Prothane Polyurethane Rear Sway Bar Bushing Kit fits 1990–1995 4Runner 4WD models with an 18mm rear sway bar. Because older vehicles may have replacement or modified suspension components, physically measure the rear sway bar before ordering.

Measure Before Ordering

This kit fits an 18mm rear sway bar only.

Vehicle year, engine, trim level, or VIN should not replace physical measurement because suspension parts may have been changed during previous repairs or modifications.

Measuring With Calipers

  1. Clean a straight, rust-free section of the rear sway bar.
  2. Measure the outside diameter with digital or vernier calipers.
  3. Confirm that the measurement is approximately 18mm.

Measuring Without Calipers

  1. Clean a straight section of the rear sway bar.
  2. Slide an 18mm open-end wrench over the bar.
  3. A close, snug fit indicates an approximately 18mm sway bar.
  4. If the wrench does not fit or leaves substantial clearance, measure with calipers before ordering.

Do not measure over a bend, mounting sleeve, thick rust, paint buildup, or damaged section.

Installation Notes

  • Fits factory-style 18mm rear sway bars only
  • Measure the rear sway bar before ordering
  • Clean the sway bar and mounting surfaces before installation
  • Remove rust, dirt, and deteriorated rubber residue from all contact areas
  • Apply the supplied polyurethane grease to the specified bushing surfaces
  • Inspect the sway bar, brackets, end links, sleeves, and fasteners for damage
  • Replace bent, corroded, or excessively worn hardware as needed
  • Tighten all fasteners according to the factory service manual
  • Professional installation is recommended when mounting hardware is seized or suspension components are heavily worn

Available Bushing Colors
