Prothane Polyurethane Front Sway Bar Bushing & End Link Kit – 19mm or 23mm

For 1979–1988 Toyota Pickup 4WD & 1984–1989 Toyota 4Runner 4WD

Overview

Restore the handling and stability of your classic Toyota with the Prothane Front Sway Bar Bushing & End Links Kit. Designed for 1979–1988 Toyota Pickup 4WD and 1984–1989 Toyota 4Runner 4WD, this complete kit replaces worn factory rubber sway bar bushings and end links with premium polyurethane components engineered for long-lasting durability and improved suspension performance.

Unlike factory rubber, polyurethane resists deterioration from oil, grease, road salt, moisture, ozone, and extreme temperatures. The result is a more secure sway bar connection, reduced flex, sharper steering response, and improved cornering performance both on and off the road.

This kit is available for 19mm or 23mm factory front sway bars. Because Toyota used multiple sway bar diameters during production—and many trucks have had suspension components replaced over the years—the only reliable way to determine the correct kit is by measuring your front sway bar before ordering.

Vehicle Fitment

Toyota Pickup

  • 1984–1988 Toyota Pickup 4WD (2nd Generation)

Toyota 4Runner

  • 1984–1989 Toyota 4Runner 4WD (1st Generation)

Choosing the Correct Sway Bar Size

This kit is available in 19mm and 23mm versions.

Toyota did not consistently install the same diameter sway bar on every vehicle. In addition, many of these trucks are over 35 years old, and suspension components may have been replaced by previous owners.

Vehicle year, trim level, engine, or VIN cannot reliably determine which sway bar you have.

The only accurate way to select the correct kit is to physically measure the diameter of your front sway bar before ordering.

Easy Measurement Without Calipers

If you don't have digital calipers, you can still identify your sway bar size with a simple wrench.

  1. Clean a straight section of the front sway bar.
  2. Take a standard 19mm open-end wrench (a 3/4-inch wrench also works).
  3. Attempt to slide the wrench over the sway bar.
  • If the 19mm wrench fits snugly over the bar, you have a 19mm sway bar.
  • If the wrench will not fit over the bar, your vehicle likely has the 23mm sway bar.

This quick method is an easy way to verify your sway bar size before ordering.
