Overview

The NGK Iridium IX Performance Spark Plugs are a performance-oriented ignition upgrade for classic Toyota 4Runner and Pickup applications equipped with the 2.4L 22R, 22RE, 22R-TE 4-cylinder engines or 3.0L 3VZ-E V6.

Iridium IX plugs use a fine-wire iridium center electrode and tapered-cut ground electrode to provide strong, consistent ignition while improving resistance to fouling. The design supports responsive starting, smooth idle quality, and dependable spark performance in daily-driven, off-road, restored, and modified Toyota trucks.

Two engine-specific configurations are available. The 2.4L 4-cylinder kit includes four plugs, providing a complete replacement set. The 3.0L V6 kit includes eight plugs—six for a complete spark plug replacement plus two additional spares.

Iridium IX Performance Design

The fine-wire iridium center electrode requires less voltage to generate a stable spark than a conventional large-diameter electrode. The tapered ground electrode also provides additional space for flame-kernel development, helping support reliable combustion.

Iridium's high heat and wear resistance allows the center electrode to maintain its fine profile over extended use, making Iridium IX a durable performance upgrade over conventional nickel-alloy spark plugs.
