Locking Glovebox Safe Insert
For 1984–1989 Toyota 4Runner & 1984–1988 Toyota Pickup
Overview
The Locking Glovebox Safe Insert adds discreet interior security to 1st Gen Toyota 4Runners and 2nd Gen Toyota Pickups while retaining the factory glovebox location and surrounding dash appearance.
Constructed from 16-gauge steel, the insert fits inside the original glovebox opening and provides a lockable compartment for documents, tools, and other valuables. An integrated keyed lock controls access, while a concealed heavy-duty security cable anchors the safe to the solid steel crossbar behind the dashboard.
Unlike the lightly secured factory glovebox assembly, the tethered design helps prevent the safe from simply being removed with the glovebox. The installation requires only one small hole in the rear of the glovebox for security-cable routing and does not require cutting or modification of the dashboard structure.
Key Features
- Vehicle-specific locking glovebox safe insert

Security & Retention Design
The insert uses more than the factory glovebox mounting structure for retention. A heavy-duty steel security cable routes through the rear of the glovebox and loops around the solid steel dash crossbar behind the dashboard.
With the factory dash trim installed, the cable remains concealed from view. If the glovebox assembly is damaged or forcibly removed, the safe remains tethered to the vehicle.
No vehicle security product is completely theft-proof, but the combination of steel construction, keyed access, and hidden cable retention substantially increases the effort required to remove or access the compartment.
