Overview
The Fidanza Lightweight Aluminum Flywheel is a performance replacement designed to reduce drivetrain rotational mass in Toyota 20R and 22R-series manual transmission applications. At approximately 9.5 lbs, the lighter flywheel allows engine RPM to rise and fall more quickly than with a heavier factory-style flywheel, improving throttle response and making rev matching more responsive.
The flywheel combines a 6061-T6 aluminum body with a replaceable steel clutch friction surface and heat-treated steel starter ring gear. This serviceable construction provides the low rotational inertia of an aluminum flywheel while retaining durable steel surfaces at the clutch and starter contact points.
This flywheel does not increase engine horsepower. Its performance benefit comes from reducing the rotational mass the engine must accelerate.

Lightweight Flywheel Performance
Reducing flywheel mass allows the engine to change RPM more quickly, which can provide sharper throttle response and more responsive shifting during spirited street driving and performance use.
A lightweight flywheel also stores less rotational energy than a heavier factory flywheel. Drivers may notice RPM falling more quickly between shifts and may need slightly more throttle during low-speed clutch engagement. Vehicles used primarily for technical crawling, heavy-load operation, or other situations where stored flywheel inertia is beneficial should consider these drivability characteristics before switching from a heavier flywheel.
