The DFC OE Rear Brake Wheel Cylinder is a direct-fit hydraulic replacement for the rear drum brake system used on 1979ā1995 Toyota Pickup 2WD applications equipped with the corresponding standard brake configuration.
This wheel cylinder uses a 22.23 mm (7/8-inch) bore and fits either the driver- or passenger-side rear drum brake assembly. Earlier applications are primarily identified by the 1/2-ton chassis configuration, while 1989ā1995 models require the 17S front brake package.
Because Toyota used more than one brake package on later 2WD Pickups, verifying the front caliper casting or rotor diameter is important before ordering.

How to Identify 17S vs. F18Q Brakes
For 1989ā1995 Toyota Pickup 2WD models, the easiest way to determine the correct rear wheel cylinder is to identify the front brake package.
The most reliable method is to inspect the front brake caliper casting.
- Look through the front wheel toward the brake caliper. Remove the wheel if the marking cannot be seen clearly.
- Locate the raised casting identification on the caliper body.
- Clean away brake dust, dirt, or surface corrosion as needed.
- Look for either 17S or F18Q cast into the caliper.
17S Brake Package
- Front caliper marked 17S
- Uses approximately 248 mm front brake rotors
- Uses the 7/8-inch rear wheel cylinder covered by this listing
F18Q Brake Package
- Front caliper marked F18Q
- Uses approximately 254 mm front brake rotors
- Uses a different, larger-bore rear wheel cylinder
If the caliper marking is unreadable, front rotor diameter provides a secondary identification method:
- Approximately 248 mm rotor = 17S
- Approximately 254 mm rotor = F18Q
Because brake components may have been changed during the truck's life, verify the installed brake components rather than relying only on model year, engine, cab style, or trim level.
