Overview
The ARB Old Man Emu Greasable Rear Shackle Kit is a heavy-duty rear suspension upgrade for 1984–1989 Toyota 4Runner 4WD and 1979–1988 Toyota Pickup 4WD models equipped with rear leaf springs.
Integrated grease fittings allow the shackle pins and spring bushings to be periodically lubricated without removing the shackle assemblies. Maintaining proper lubrication reduces friction at the suspension pivot points, helps extend bushing life, and keeps the rear leaf springs moving smoothly through their normal range of travel.
The kit uses heat-treated shackle pins, zinc-plated side plates, and a bolt-together design for durability under daily driving, hauling, overland, and off-road conditions.

Greasable Shackle Design
The greasable pins allow lubricant to be delivered directly between the shackle pin and spring bushing. This eliminates the need to remove the rear shackles simply to lubricate the suspension pivot points.
Maintaining a film of grease at these interfaces reduces friction and operating temperature while helping protect the bushings from accelerated wear. Periodic lubrication is especially beneficial for vehicles exposed to water, mud, dust, towing loads, and regular off-road use.
