Overview
The ARB Air Locker is a driver-selectable pneumatic locking differential for Toyota 8-inch rear axle applications using 30-spline axle shafts and 50mm carrier-bearing journals. With the locker disengaged, the differential operates like a conventional open differential for normal street driving. When compressed air is supplied, the locking mechanism connects both axle shafts to the ring gear for maximum available traction.
This application uses a 10-bolt ring gear configuration and supports the full range of gear ratios used with the applicable Toyota 8-inch differential. Its heavy-duty construction includes a nodular-iron differential case, forged internal gears, and ARB's timed locking mechanism.
The 50mm carrier design installs directly into applicable V6/Turbo-style third members. Earlier 4-cylinder Toyota 8-inch differentials using 45mm carrier bearings require 45mm-to-50mm conversion bearings, available through the 4-Cylinder Kit configuration.

Differential & Carrier Bearing Compatibility
This Air Locker uses a 50mm carrier-bearing journal.
V6 / Turbo Toyota 8" Differentials
Toyota V6/Turbo-style third members equipped for the larger carrier use the corresponding 50mm carrier bearings.
4-Cylinder Toyota 8" Differentials
Toyota 4-cylinder third members originally designed around 45mm carrier bearings require 45mm-to-50mm conversion carrier bearings to install this Air Locker.
The 4-Cylinder Kit includes the required conversion bearings for this application.
Air System Requirements
An ARB air compressor is required to engage and disengage the locker and is sold separately.
The Air Locker includes its pneumatic activation components, including the activation switch, solenoid valve, air line, and bulkhead fitting. A differential overhaul kit is also recommended when bearings, seals, and other wear components are being replaced during installation.
