Yukon Gear V6/Turbo Master Differential Overhaul Kit

For 1986–1995 Toyota 4Runner & 1986-1995 Toyota Pickup Equipped with a V6/Turbo Engine and Toyota 8-Inch Differential

Overview

Rebuild your Toyota V6/Turbo rear differential with a complete Yukon Gear & Axle Master Differential Overhaul Kit designed for Toyota V6 and Turbo 4-cylinder differential applications.

This kit is an ideal solution for rebuilding the rear differential in compatible 1986–1995 Toyota 4Runner and Toyota Pickup models equipped with the larger V6/Turbo-style differential. It provides the bearings, races, seals, shims, hardware, and setup components required for a comprehensive differential overhaul or ring-and-pinion installation.

Whether you are restoring a factory third member, replacing worn differential bearings, installing new gears, or rebuilding an off-road axle assembly, Yukon Master Overhaul Kits provide application-specific components designed for proper differential setup and long-term reliability.

Available configurations allow you to match the overhaul kit to either a 27-spline pinion setup or a compatible 29-spline Yukon gear conversion.

Kit contents may vary slightly according to the selected pinion configuration.

Choose the Correct Pinion Spline Configuration

27-Spline Pinion – Factory-Style 1986–1995 Application

Choose the 27-spline configuration when rebuilding a compatible Toyota V6/Turbo differential that retains a 27-spline pinion gear.

This is the appropriate configuration for most original-style 1986–1995 Toyota V6/Turbo differential rebuilds using the factory-style pinion spline arrangement.

The standard 27-spline Yukon Master Overhaul Kit uses the conventional crush-sleeve arrangement.

29-Spline Pinion – Yukon Gear Conversion

Choose the 29-spline configuration only when your differential is being assembled with a compatible Yukon 29-spline V6/Turbo ring-and-pinion gear set.

The spline count refers to the pinion shaft, not the axle shaft or differential carrier.

A 29-spline gear conversion can require compatible 29-spline installation components such as the correct yoke, pinion nut, and seal. Confirm the components included with your selected Yukon ring-and-pinion gear set before installation.

Do not select the overhaul kit based only on vehicle year. Match the kit to the pinion spline count and differential components being used.

Optional Solid Pinion Spacer Upgrade

For both applications, an optional Yukon Master Overhaul Kit with a solid pinion spacer / crush-sleeve eliminator is available.

A conventional crush sleeve establishes pinion-bearing preload by permanently deforming as the pinion nut is tightened. A solid spacer instead uses precision shims to establish the required preload.

Benefits of a Solid Pinion Spacer

  • Provides a mechanically fixed pinion-bearing spacing
  • Helps maintain consistent pinion-bearing preload
  • Reduces the possibility of additional crush-sleeve deformation
  • Useful for frequently serviced or heavily used differentials
  • Allows preload to be adjusted through precision shim selection
  • Popular for off-road, towing, oversized-tire, and performance builds

Correct setup remains critical. Pinion-bearing preload, pinion depth, backlash, and gear-contact pattern should always be established according to proper differential setup procedures.

  • Compatible 3.0L 3VZ-E V6 applications
  • Rear differential application

Important Fitment Information

Toyota trucks and 4Runners are frequently modified, and complete axle assemblies or third members may have been replaced during previous repairs, gear-ratio changes, or off-road builds.

Before ordering, verify:

  • Rear differential type
  • Pinion spline count
  • Ring-and-pinion configuration
  • Differential carrier configuration
  • Whether the axle assembly is original to the vehicle
  • Whether a 27-spline or 29-spline pinion gear is being installed

Always order differential rebuild components according to the differential currently installed in the vehicle rather than relying exclusively on the vehicle model year.

This kit is intended for the Toyota V6/Turbo-style rear differential and should not be confused with overhaul kits designed for the standard Toyota 4-cylinder 8-inch differential.
