Overview
The NGK Iridium IX Spark Plug Set provides a complete four-plug ignition service set for classic Toyota AE86 Corolla, AW11 MR2, and early AE92 Corolla models equipped with the naturally aspirated 1.6L 4A-GE DOHC 16-valve engine.
Each Iridium IX plug uses an ultra-fine 0.6 mm iridium center electrode with a taper-cut ground electrode to promote reliable spark formation while reducing the voltage required for ignition. The design supports consistent starting, stable idle, responsive acceleration, and dependable ignition performance.
The set includes four spark plugs, providing the required quantity for one 4-cylinder 4A-GE engine.

Iridium IX Design
The fine-wire iridium center electrode concentrates the spark while requiring less ignition voltage than a conventional larger-diameter electrode. Combined with the taper-cut ground electrode, the design reduces spark quenching and allows the flame kernel to develop efficiently.
Iridium also provides strong resistance to electrode wear, helping maintain consistent ignition characteristics throughout the plug's service life.
